As the winter freeze takes its grip, self-proclaimed Russophiles, film-fanatics and culture-vultures everywhere are lining up for a warming vodka shot and an annual fix of all-things-Russian at the 7th annual Russian Resurrection Film Festival, which kicks off its national tour in Sydney on Thursday 19th August. The wave of Russian cinema will then hit Melbourne on Wednesday 25 August, Brisbane on Wednesday 1 September, Perth on Wednesday 8 September, followed closely by Adelaide on Thursday 9 September and finally Canberra on Wednesday 15 September.

Opening Night Film and Party!
Each capital city will again play host to the renowned Russian Resurrection Film Festival Opening Night Parties, immersing guests in the delights of Russian hospitality. On the menu will be a delectable array of blinis, balalaika, and legendary Russian Standard vodka that will keep you dancing all night long.

Adelaide will open with the premiere of Vera Glagoleva's multi-award winning film ONE WAR, a powerful and highly emotional drama which brings to light an unknown chapter in the history of World War II.

Palace Nova Eastend and Madman are very excited to announce that REEL ANIME 2010 is now ready to go ahead with the best line-up of films.  Showcasing 5 films that are as diverse as they are accomplished; anime fans and film lovers will be running to Palace Novas to see them!

REELANIME 2010 will feature two hotly anticipated titles, EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE and SUMMER WARS.
Rounding out the Showcase are three exciting titles: EVANGELION 1.0: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE, the first film in the Evangelion rebuild; KING OF THORN, a mysterious race against time for a group of infected survivors in a world ravaged by disease; and REDLINE, an adrenaline-fueled action ride set in the world of underground racing.
 
All films will be screened digitally and in their original Japanese with English subtitles.

ASavour all the glamour, passion, drama and artistry of Italian cinema when the Lavazza Italian Film Festival hits Adelaide on October 13.

The 11th edition showcases more than twenty handpicked from the Cannes, Berlin, Rome and Venice film festivals. Among the festival highlights are opening night selection LA NOSTRA VITA, which won the Best Actor Award for Elio Germano at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.  Others include THE FIRST BEAUTIFUL THING by Paolo Virzi (Her Whole Life Ahead), a runner-up for Best Film at this year’s David Di Donatello Awards (Italy’s own Oscars). Sweeping epic BAARIA (by Giuseppe Tornatore (Cinema Paradiso), chosen to open the 2009 Venice International Film Festival; controversial political documentary DRAQUILA – ITALY TREMBLES from Official Selection in Cannes; and Raoul Bova in the rom-com SORRY IF I WANT TO MARRY YOU.

Other highlights include Giuseppe Capotondi’s debut feature THE DOUBLE HOUR; Gabriele Salvatores’ tongue-in-cheek comedy HAPPY FAMILY; Ferzan Ozpetek’s coming-out comedy LOOSE CANNONS; Silvio Soldini’s relationship drama WHAT MORE DO I WANT (with Alba Rohwacher (I Am Love); compelling drama THE MAN WHO WILL COME which won the Best Film Award at the 2010 David Di Donatello Awards; and impressive debut feature TEN WINTERS.
