Butterfly Tree, The
Thirteen year old Fin (Ed Oxenbould) is mourning the death of his mother when he meets Evelyn, a recent transplant to his rural Queensland town, and is drawn into her colourful lifestyle. An adolescent crush grows, where Fin experiences a confusing mix of desire combined with a longing for maternal love. But his friendship with and fantasy of Evelyn is rocked when it becomes clear that his father Al (Ewen Leslie) has also fallen for Evelyn’s charms.
An intimate and unique coming-of-age film, Cameron crafts a fantastical romantic piece about love, and it’s intersections with loss.
