Eagle Huntress, The

A feel-good documentary that will see your heart soar, THE EAGLE HUNTRESS follows 13 year old Aisholpan Nurgaiv, who is training to become the first ever woman among her nomadic Mongolian people to hunt with a majestic golden eagle, a tradition that stretches back 2,000 years.

Cheerful and fearless, Aisholpan has been fascinated by the traditional hunting method using eagles as used by her father and grandfather since she was a small child. Encouraged by her family, Aisholpan decides to go through the process of capturing an eagle chick and training it to hunt game in tandem with herself as its human keeper. Her success is immediate, and while there are plenty to applaud her, others within the community are less enthused and criticise the fact that Aisholpan is not following traditional gender roles. Undaunted, Aisholpan looks to take on the task that proves a real eagle hunter: the arduous task of wintertime hunting. Narrated by Daisy Ridley, THE EAGLE HUNTRESS is an intimate tale of a young girl’s quest to both embrace and buck tradition and forge her own path.
