Set in Los Angeles 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, the film follows George (Firth), a British college professor who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his longtime partner. George is consoled by his closest friend Charley (Moore), who is wrestling with her own questions about the future. Tom Ford is an American fashion designer, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He was creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before launching his own Tom Ford label in 2006. A Single Man was his first feature film.
