Top Melbourne Chefs: Peter Gunn
The food and wine selection at the Nova Bar and Kitchen is terrific. But every 2 months we pull out all stops for a night and invite one of our favourite chefs to run the kitchen and surprise us with a degustation offering. We match the food with favourite aged wines from our cellars. In March, Andreas Papadakis - Time Out Best Melbourne Chef of 2017, Osteria Ilaria and Tipo00 - knocked our socks off with a tomato steak in passionfruit, and an absolutely stunning truffled cacao tortellini.
In May we're hosting PETER GUNN - ex-Attica, San Pellegrino's Young Chef of the Year 2015, but more currently and importantly - proprietor of Ides, his sensational restaurant in Collingwood. We're matching his food with 2 of the wines that went down so well in March, the 2005 Katnook Odyssey Cabernet and the 2003 Punters Corner Spartacus Shiraz, plus this time the 2000 Parker Estate First Growth Cab. You don't have to have the matched wines. In fact if you don't fancy fully aged big bodied reds from the Coonawarra, you shouldn't, just buy from the extensive bar selection. However the big reds are what we like, so that's what we're matching with. Yes, you guessed it - we're running the night for our own and friends' delight, and we'd love you to join us. Peter is a great chef, you're in for a treat. So take advantage of our intimate setting to listen to Peter Gunn introduce his food, in a mouth-watering dining experience you won't get anywhere else.
