Stars of Australian comedy, Rob Sitch and Tom Gleisner introduced their new comedy ANY QUESTIONS FOR BEN? at a very early screening of the highly-anticipated Working Dog follow-up to The Dish and The Castle. An extended introduction had the audience in stitches as the stars of The Panel, Frontline and The Hollow Men explained how they obtained permission to film at many of Melbourne’s landmarks and how star Josh Lawson was cast as the titular Ben.

Real-life horse whisperer Buck Brannaman mustered into Nova for the Victorian premiere of the acclaimed documentary about his life BUCK. Winner of the Audience Award at Sundance, the film follows Buck from his troubled childhood, to his life as a well-known expert in the interactions between horses and people. Master horseman, raconteur and philosopher - Buck is a no-excuses cowboy who travels the world sharing a hard-won wisdom that's often more about human relationships than about horses. Buck opens at Nova on February 16.

To launch the digitally-restored cult classic re-release of GHOSTBUSTERS, Cinema Nova held a premiere and 1984-themed party that saw Melbourne’s geeks, sci-fi fans, film buffs and ‘children of the 80s’ party at Nova like it was 1984. Guests re-lived their greatest eighties moments, danced to the sounds of Ray Parker Jr and came dressed up in 1984 fashion, Ghostbusters or ghosts.

This glamorous all-star event celebrated the Melbourne premiere, the opening of 4 new screens as well as the launch of the Cinema Nova Bar. Another cinematic monarch, Helen Mirren, graciously welcomed guests via screen and wished Nova well with its expansion.  The King’s Speech is an Australian/UK co-production and currently an Oscar front-runner. The film was generously provided by Transmission Films & Paramount Pictures.

Cinema Nova’s third Page To Picture event involved a screening of the highly-anticipated post-apocalyptic drama THE ROAD, followed by a panel discussion. On-hand to talk about John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s prize-winning story were media personality and writer Marieke Hardy, director of ‘Blessed’ Ana Kokkinos, The Age’s Book Editor Jason Steger, author & online artist Dr Justin Clemens as well as film critic and author Thomas Caldwell. A very personal book for some on the panel, all agreed that Hillcoat’s feature was a brave and captivating take on McCarthy’s bestseller.
