script alive! is an initiative staging public script readings of unproduced screenplays by Victorian writers. The scripts are read by professional actors who have rehearsed with the writer and director.
script alive! represents an opportunity for Government and commercial operators alike to foster and promote the local filmmaking community, while offering the public a rare and exciting chance to witness new works in progress.

SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT TO script alive!
If you've developed a feature film script and are looking to polish the story, Script Alive! could be for you...
Script Alive! is a unique opportunity giving Victorian writers the chance to have their feature scripts read in public by a professional cast who have rehearsed with the writer and director. Hosted in partnership with the Film Victoria, Script Alive! audiences are comprised of general paying public and invited industry. Preference is given to scripts which have received funding through Film Victoria's script development programs.
If you have a developed script almost ready for market, Script Alive! is the perfect opportunity to tempt a distributor or entice an investor.
You'll get strong audience feedback and the opportunity to test casting ideas and approaches.
If you are in an earlier draft stage, Script Alive! enables you to hear your dialogue spoken by professional actors, test audience response to characters and ideas, workshop the script in a cast rehearsal, and discover if what is on the page comes across in practice.

The nuts and bolts
- Readings can run no longer than 90 minutes
- Scripts should be character driven
- Writers are asked to reduce big print to a minimum
- Script Alive! projects are funded for five actors to participate in the reading

What Film Victoria requires from you
- Single paragraph script synopsis
- One page script synopsis
- CV of writer, producer, director, including credits
- Brief market overview – who is your target audience?
- If you are shortlisted for the event, you will be contacted to provide a hard copy of the script
| Creative teams gain feedback from the reading through
- Q & A after the performance (time permitting)
- Audience questionnaires
- Audience feed back during the complimentary networking drinks following the reading
