Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan

One of the most savage fights and decisive victories in Australian military history, the Battle of Long Tan, is explored by Kriv Stenders (Red Dog) in his new film DANGER CLOSE. Immersing the audience in the world of wartime in 1966 South Vietnam, the battle saw 108 ANZAC soldiers surrounded by enemy forces in a rubber plantation in the pouring rain – holding off an enemy made up of 2500 soldiers. Young and inexperienced though the Australian and New Zealand men were, they held their own despite weather, numbers weighted out of their favour, and ammunition running out; to ultimately declare an incredible victory in the face of a battle that seemed impossible.

With an Australian cast including Richard Roxburgh, Travis Fimmel, Luke Bracey and Daniel Webber, Stenders’ film is a stirring and terrifying look at war, loss and triumph.
