Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot

The latest film from Gus Van Sant, Joaquin Phoenix stars in the true story of cartoonist John Callahan, a tale of hitting a few steps below rock bottom, and how recovery is a continual and surreal process.

John had been courting oblivion from an early age. An alcoholic since his teenage years, Callahan’s devotion to drink was so great that even a catastrophic car accident, which resulted in quadriplegia, couldn’t shake him out of his dependence. Forced into Alcoholics Anonymous and confronted with the lessons of group leader Donnie (a positively beatific Jonah Hill), John gains a finger hold on something resembling hope that comes alive in his honest, drily witty and often line-crossing cartoons.

Featuring a fantastic ensemble cast including Rooney Mara, Jack Black, Udo Kier, and a breakthrough performance from singer Beth Ditto that threatens to steal the whole show, DON’T WORRY HE WON’T GET FAR ON FOOT is oddball Van Sant at his best – irreverent, humorous, touching, and always unique.
