I Used to Be Normal

A surprising coming of age documentary following four women who have had their lives dramatically changed by their passion for the music of a particular boyband, I Used To Be Normal: A Boyband Fangirl Story seeks to discover what drove these fans to become so obsessed with their chosen boyband.

Whether The Beatles, Take That, the Backstreet Boys or One Direction, each musical group drove their fans into a frenzy through the alchemy of harmonies, choreography, distinctive attire and music videos. Attempting to decode what made these performers and their music so influential, Jessica Leski's Australian-produced documentary is a funny and moving insight into popular culture, teenage obsession and how every generation has their own special crush.
