If Beale Street Could Talk
Golden Globe winner - Best Supporting Actress
Academy Award winning writer/director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) adapts James Baldwin's acclaimed novel - a love story set in 1970s Harlem, New York. After her fiancé is framed for a crime, a young woman struggles against a corrupt justice system in this brilliantly crafted, poignant drama.
Friends since childhood, Tish (Kiki Layne in a breakthrough performance) and Fonny (Stephan James) are expecting their first child and are looking forward to a happy life together. But when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit, their plans are derailed and Tish must fight to prove his innocence in an unforgiving and racially biased world.
