Nova exclusive! The five animated short films nominated for this year's Academy Awards, plus shortlisted contenders

DEAR BASKETBALL. Directed by Glen Keane. USA, 5 minutes. Basketball great Kobe Bryant collaborated with visionary animator Glen Keane and legendary composer John Williams on an animated short film that explores what it means to achieve your dream, and then leave it behind.

GARDEN PARTY. Directed by Florian Babikian, Vincent Bayoux, Victor Caire, Théophile Dufresne, Gabriel Grapperon and Lucas Navarro. France, 7 minutes. In a deserted, opulent house, a couple of amphibians explore their surroundings and follow their primal instincts.

LOU. Directed by Dave Mullins. USA, 7 minutes. When a toy-stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids, only one thing stands in his way: the “Lost and Found” box.

NEGATIVE SPACE. Directed by Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata. France, 6 minutes. How my father taught me how to pack a bag.

REVOLTING RHYMES. Directed by Jakob Schuh and Jan Lachauer. UK, 29 minutes. Interweaves Roald Dahl’s retellings of classic fairy tales with playful twists and surprising endings. The all-star voice cast comprises of Dominic West, David Walliams, Rob Brydon, Tamsin Greig, Bertie Carvel, Rose Leslie, Bel Powley, Gemma Chan and Isaac Hempstead Wright.

PLUS: while not nominated for the Animated Short Film Academy Award, the program will also include the shortlisted animated titles 'LOST PROPERTY OFFICE', 'WEEDS' and 'ACHOO'.
