Join members of the 148-year-old Christchurch Poultry, Bantam and Pigeon Club in the lead up to the New Zealand National Show, as they battle history (and each other) in their quest for glory. Among those longing to win the big prize of best in show are determined club president Doug, 12-year-old upstart Rhys, Sarah the chicken whisperer, voice of reason Mark, and multiple prize-winner Brian. But trouble is afoot at the club – Doug’s presidency is being challenged, threatening to split the club in twain. And are the pigeon fanciers on the verge of mounting a coup?
Slavko Martinov’s deeply affectionate film is a hilarious and heart-warming slice of Kiwiana that is sure to provoke delight and surprise at the love and obsession that can be inspired by the humble chicken.
