An all-star cast brings a fresh perspective to the classic play by Anton Chekhov in a new film directed by Michael Mayer.

Aging actress Irina Arkadina (Annette Bening) pays a summer visit to her brother Pjotr Nikolayevich Sorin (Brian Dennehy) and her son Konstantin (Billy Howle) on a country estate, bringing successful novelist Boris Trigorin (Corey Stoll) as her guest. Nina (Saoirse Ronan), a free and innocent girl on a neighbouring estate, quickly falls for Boris. However, her affections are not reciprocated, causing in idyllic getaway to soon turn chaotic. Co-starring Elizabeth Moss and Mare Winningham.
