HAL ASHBY RETROSPECTIVE: 'Shampoo', (1975). A seminal film in the 'New Hollywood' movement, Hal Ashby directs Warren Beatty in a comedy written by Robert Town (Chinatown). Beatty stars as a Beverley Hills hairdresser who spends as much time in the salon as he does in bed with his female clients. Hoping to open his own business, he finds little interest from financial institutions, forcing him to make other plans.

Co-starring Goldie Hawn, Julie Christie, Carrie Fisher and Jack Warden, SHAMPOO's cheeky brand of sexual comedy was a sensation upon release.
