Nicholas Hoult plays master of fantasy J.R.R. Tolkien as his younger self: an orphaned young man finding love, friendship and himself in early 20th century Britain. Falling in with a group of outcasts that become his firm friends, Tolkien finds himself drawn into the fray of WW1 – shattering his life as he knows it, and directly impacting on his creation of The Lord of the Rings series. TOLKIEN is the story of how one man found an entirely new world, while trying to navigate the horrors of a war-torn real one.
