Unexpected Love, An
Two of Latin cinemas biggest stars lead in Juan Vera’s romcom AN UNEXPECTED LOVE, a sweetly humorous vessel for Ricardo Darín and Mercedes Morán – playing a couple who, now that they’ve farewelled their son overseas, are left sitting alone in the tail-end of their own relationship. Deciding to “consciously uncouple”, the two embark on separate yet similar new terrain: the world of dating, loneliness, and getting older.
Taking the Argentinian box office by storm, Vera’s film is a portrayal of both the sadness and the humour in the dissolution of a marriage– and two people discovering that figuring out anew what they really want out of life might be harder than they thought.
