Wild Rose

Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley) has just been released from jail and dreams of becoming a country singer so she can leave her childhood home of Glasgow behind, except that she has two young children who have been living with their grandmother (Julie Walters) while she did time. Far from reformed and unable to shake her bad girl behaviour, Rose-Lynn is forced to find work as a house cleaner to make ends meet. Striking up a friendship with her new employer Susannah (Sophie Okonedo), Rose-Lynn shares her dream but neglects to mention her young family. Spurred on by Susannah’s enthusiasm, Rose-Lynn must soon make some difficult choices about her responsibilities as a mother and making the most of opportunities that might take her to the other side of the globe. Directed by Tom Harper (Peeky Blinders) and written by Nicole Taylor (The C-Word).

“From it’s opening notes, Wild Rose puts a lump in your throat as you realize you’re watching a star being born” The Playlist, “A star is born? More like a supernova!” Time Out, “Entirely delightful, fresh as a Scottish summer evening” Hollywood Reporter.
