POLFF26 No Ghosts on Good Street
Winner of five awards at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, including Best Director and Best Supporting Actress, the darkly funny and tender debut NO GHOSTS ON GOOD STREET follows four siblings discovering that growing up can change everything — including the people you thought would always be there for you.
On the verge of adulthood, Franek, Nastka, Jana and Benek are each trying to find their own way as the close bond that once held them together begins to change. Franek is pulling away from his family, Nastka is searching for love, while Jana tries to keep everyone connected. Meanwhile, the youngest Benek struggles with the rejection of the brother who was once his best friend, and with a mischievous apparition that appears whenever the pressure becomes too much.
Blending family drama, dry humour and a touch of the supernatural, NO GHOSTS ON GOOD STREET explores growing up, changing relationships and the strange ways childhood bonds continue to shape us as adults. Inspired by the director’s own experience of growing up in a large family, it finds humour and tenderness in the uncomfortable moments of family life.
Buchwald's feature debut was one of the discoveries of the Polish film scene, earning strong critical attention and a string of awards, including five awards at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Polityka Passport in the Film category and the Annual Award of the Minister of Culture for 2025.
