Alcarras

Winning the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, Carla Simón's follow up to her debut (Summer 1993) is a beautifully observant ensemble drama about a family of Catalan peach farmers who, after generations having harvested the same land, face sudden eviction and an uncertain future. A candid portrait of rural life and the conundrum of tradition versus change, the immersive and absorbing ALCARRÁS was inspired by Simón's own family experiences.
