Last Unicorn, The

40th ANNIVERSARY SCREENINGS! Returning to the cinema following a celebratory event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, THE LAST UNICORN is a fantastical animated treat based on the novel by Peter S. Beagle. Featuring the voice talent of Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Angela Lansbury, Mia Farrow and Christopher Lee, the story follows a unicorn who learns she may be the last of her kind. Travelling to the ends of the earth with a new group of friends, she is transformed into human form before confronting the beast responsible for pushing the unicorns to the brink of extinction.

Directed by Arthur Rankin Jr and Jules Bass, THE LAST UNICORN is also notable for having been animated in Tokyo, Japan by artists would later be hired by Hayao Miyazaki and become core members of Studio Ghibli. Critically acclaimed by the New York Times and Variety upon its initial release, it has become a beloved cult favourite across the globe.
