Bitter Christmas
ADVANCE SCREENING: Friday November 13, 7:00pm.
Pedro Almodóvar, the master of melodrama, is back with BITTER CHRISTMAS, a witty and acerbic look at how life inspires art, and the cost of creativity.
In 2004 Elsa’s (Bárbara Lennie) mother dies during a long December holiday. An advertising workaholic, she never gave herself the space to mourn her mother’s passing; so, after some time, she takes a leave of absence to be with her friend. But Elsa is just a character; one created by Raúl (Leonardo Sbaraglia – Pain and Glory), a filmmaker struggling to finish his script in 2026. When his assistant Mónica (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón – Parallel Mothers) takes time off to be with her friend during a tragedy, Raúl believes he’s found the missing piece of his writing and begins to take from her experiences.
