Floodland
A deeply moving story of love, loss, and land, director Jordan Giusti's FLOODLAND documents the NSW town of Lismore; also known as Australia’s most flooded postcode.
In flood-prone Lismore, Australia, residents face life-changing decisions after devastating floods. Filmed over three years, detailing a series of catastrophic floods that tested community resilience, this expansive look at a community in crisis follows three residents as they deal with the continual environmental onslaught brought about by climate disaster. Eli is a pragmatic man who copes with the floods as they come; his friend Harper turns to activism in the face of political complacency; and Carlie Atkinson is a Bundjalung-Yiman social worker who set up a groundbreaking First Nations healing centre in the area. With trauma bubbling up and talk of government buybacks dividing neighbours, locals must question whether they can find the strength and spirit to stay.
