Ideal Palace, The

Based on true events, director Nils Tavernier (The Finishers) paints a love story set in the late 19th century south of France in THE IDEAL PALACE. Cheval (Jacques Gamblin) is a solitary daydreaming postman who falls in love with Philomène (Laetitia Casta). The pair soon sees the arrival of their daughter, Alice – and Cheval’s entire world is changed. He sets about building Alice a castle of stone with his bare hands, and the project he takes on will form the next 30 years of his life. Persistence, love and legacy are all explored in the tale of one man’s epic undertaking – the pursuit of his ideal palace.
