A frustrated suburban housewife, Francine Fishpaw (played by John Waters' muse Divine), does her best to stay sane whilst caring for her dysfunctional nuclear household. But when she finds out that her husband Elmer (David Samson), an adult theatre owner, is having an affair; that her son Dexter (Ken King) is suspected of stomping on local women's feet in the name of fetishism; and that her daughter Lulu (Mary Garlington) is pregnant and dropping out of school to be a 'Go-Go Girl', Francine starts to unravel. Just as things are looking dire, though, she meets the dashing hunk Todd Tomorrow (Tab Hunter), the owner of a theatre specialising in arthouse film, and her life, finally, seems to take a turn for the better.
