Last Vermeer, The

Claes Bang (The Burnt Orange Heresy) and Australia’s own Guy Pearce star in the directorial debut of Dan Friedkin: wartime art thriller THE LAST VERMEER. Based on a true story of renowned Dutch artist Han van Meegeren (Pearce) and the soldier investigating him, Joseph Piller (Bang), on suspicion of conspiring with Nazis in the aftermath of WWII. Despite evidence mounting against van Meegeren, Piller is swayed to believe him innocent – and thus finds himself fighting to save the life of a someone who may or may not be a conman. Also starring Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) Friedkin’s film reveals the real life of a fascinating man, painted in captivating strokes on film.
