Introduction before screening

A profound, lyrical film which explores the wonder and beauty of nature and offers solutions to the overexploitation of natural resources and the erosion of biodiversity. This wonderful Canadian film reminds us of the fascinating mystery of life and our duty and power to preserve it.

EARTH SEEN FROM THE HEART works to sound a warning: biodiversity is under threat.

Having lived for 40 years on an old farm in northern Burgundy, Quebec astrophysicist Dr. Hubert Reeves has witnessed the saddening and confronting deterioration of nature around his property.

Faced with this threat to the earth's ecosystem, Reeves shares his concern about the imminent possibility of a sixth extinction of animal and plant species on the planet. He encourages viewers to join him in the world’s biggest popular movement: the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss.

Reeves and French sociologist Dr. Frédéric Lenoir team up with world leading experts to propose possible solutions to stop the overexploitation of natural resources and the erosion of biodiversity.

While some humans are responsible for this crisis, others, in growing numbers, are tackling it head on and forging solutions.

In this film dedicated to future generations, they remind us that life in all its forms is a fascinating and touching mystery... and that it is up to us to preserve it!
