POLFF26 Lachtara. Longing
Father and son. Years of silence. One unforgettable road trip. After years apart, a Greek father and his Polish-Greek son meet again to settle the inheritance. Instead, they find themselves on an unexpected journey into their shared past.
Told with humour, raw tenderness and understated emotional power, LACHTARA. LONGING is a poignant road movie about finding your way home, both geographically and emotionally.
After years apart, a Greek father and his Polish-Greek son meet again following the death of the woman who connected them. Both at a turning point in their lives, they travel together to Poland to settle the affairs of the family apartment. Driving an old Polonez across Europe, they carry with them years of unspoken resentment, cultural differences and memories they would rather leave behind. What begins as an uncomfortable journey gradually becomes an unexpected chance to rediscover each other, sometimes with humour and irony, sometimes with pain and often with a raw tenderness.
LACHTARA. LONGING features performances from Filip Pławiak (POLFF26 The Doll) alongside acclaimed Bosnian actor Branko Đurić, best known internationally for his role in the Oscar-winning No Man’s Land, and Iranian actress Sarina Farhadi, winner of the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival for her role in the Oscar-winning A Separation.
