Eddington

Ari Aster is back with the COVID thriller EDDINGTON, a pressure-cooker look at a town reaching a social boiling point, starring Joaquin Phoenix (Beau Is Afraid), Pedro Pascal (Materialists), Emma Stone (Poor Things), and Austin Butler (The Bikeriders).

In the summer of 2020, the town of Eddington is beginning to become restless. As mask mandates, protests, and a mayoral re-election filter throughout Sheriff Joe Cross’ (Phoenix) county, he decides to take everyone’s welfare into his own hands and run for office. Pitting himself against the current mayor, Ted Garcia (Pascal), this fight for leadership spills out into the public, helping ignite the powder keg of agitation and anarchy sweeping through Eddington.

Both a literal depiction of pandemic life, and an allegorical look at the larger state of the country, EDDINGTON is a provocative look at a time we’d all rather forget.
