Roberto Rossellini Retrospective. An anthology film centered on two separate women both played by Anna Magnani, Rossellini’s L’Amore comprises two short films about love and loneliness. In “The Human Voice” based on a play by Jean Cocteau, a woman makes a last-ditch attempt to save her relationship over the phone. In “The Miracle” based on a story by Federico Fellini, a peasant woman believes she is pregnant with the son of God. (Italy, 1948).
