West Side Story

OSCAR WINNER: Best Supporting Actress!

Master filmmaker Steven Spielberg returns to the director's chair for his first musical, adapting Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim & Arthur Laurents' classic musical WEST SIDE STORY for a new generation.

Featuring an updated screenplay by Oscar nominee Tony Kushner (Lincoln, Angels In America), Ansel Elgort stars opposite Rachel Zegler (in an astonishing big-screen debut) as star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria - two teens on opposite sides of a rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two street gangs fighting over a crumbling 1959 New York City.

Filled with iconic songs made famous by countless stage productions, Spielberg elevates the musical with breathtaking cinematography, costumes, production design, choreography and break-out performances. Rita Moreno, who won an Oscar for her performance as Anita in Robert Wise's 1961 production of West Side Story, returns in a new role that may win her a second Academy Award, alongside Corey Stoll, Brian d'Arcy James and newcomers Mike Faist, Ariana DeBose and David Alvarez.
