Cinema Fiasco: The Wild, Wild Planet

Join bad movie experts Geoff Wallis and Janet A. McLeod for a screening of spaced-out Italian sci-fi extravaganza THE WILD, WILD PLANET aka I criminali della galassia aka The Criminals of the Galaxy aka Gamma I Quadrilogy Vol. 1!

OK, are you ready for this? Kung fu alien women in beehives, ably assisted by mutants with four arms, shrink a bunch of Earth generals down to Barbie Doll size, pop them in a briefcase and send them to mad scientist, Dr Nurmi, for use in his hideous experiments. When someone notices the generals have gone missing, they call Commander Mike Halstead of Space Station Gamma One back to Earth to investigate. Mike soon discovers Dr Nurmi is creating a race of super beings who will one day take over the entire world! This fabulous 60s spaghetti sci-fi has the lot: miniature sets, toy rocket ships, astronauts wrestling leggy babes who disappear into thin air, flame-throwing hand guns, bad guys drowning in red cordial, futuristic disco dancing and lots and lots of wild scientific theory that one would only ever find on a wild, wild planet – which, in this case, is Earth. And Earth in 2015! You remember when all this happened, don’t you? Made by Italians who, back in the 60’s, had the market on this kind of stuff cornered.

Director: Antonio Margheriti
Starring: Tony Russel, Lisa Gastoni, Massimo Serato, Carlo Giustini, Franco Nero

THE WILD, WILD PLANET will be presented by Cinema Fiasco with live commentary throughout. Anyone wishing to view this movie minus the comic stylings of Geoff Wallis and Janet A. McLeod are advised to buy the DVD and sit at home, by themselves, and watch it – alone!
