Blue Moon
Ethan Hawke (First Reformed), Margaret Qualley (Honey Don’t), and Andrew Scott (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery) star in Richard Linklater’s (Boyhood) ensemble BLUE MOON, which won the Silver Bear at Venice for Best Supporting Performance for Scott.
March 31, 1943: the opening night of Oklahoma!. This musical marks the first time that Richard Rogers (Scott) and Oscar Hammerstein II (Simon Delaney) have collaborated, meaning that after a quarter of a century writing together, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart (Hawke) and Rogers are no more. At the afterparty for the musical, held at the iconic Theater District institution Sardi’s, Hart is haunted by his failing career, the surging rise of Rogers’, and his alcoholism, which is taking centre stage for the night. As the party surges and emotions fly high, Hart ruminates on his professional and personal life, as both unravel over the course of one night.
In BLUE MOON, Linklater and Hawke’s ninth outing together, both director and actor craft a delicate, tender, and witty portrayal of one of Broadway’s greatest writers.
