Jack Terri (Travolta) is a sound recordist for a b-movie studio, recording effects for low-budget horror films. When he’s sent out one night to capture nature sounds for an upcoming slasher film, he witnesses a car crashing into a lake. After saving the only survivor, Sally (Allen), he learns that the dead passenger was a governor intending to run for president, and as begins to investigate the incident himself, Jack sets off a chain reaction that throws him directly in the middle of a wide-scale conspiracy.
