First Light

A gorgeous and moving tale about a crisis of faith, FIRST LIGHT is the debut feature from Filipino-Australian James J. Robinson.

Set in the remote mountains of the Philippines, Sister Yolanda (Ruby Ruiz) leads a peaceful existence at a convent in northern Luzon, helping the sick and dying at a local hospital. But when she reads a young man his last rites following a construction accident, she begins to suspect foul play. As she investigates into the matter, she begins to uncover a trail of corruption that not only includes the community’s affluent elites, but also the Church.
