Flash Gordon + Highlander

DOUBLE BILL! Two sci-fi classics featuring unforgettable soundtracks by Queen, monumental melees and blood-curdling bad guys.

Although NASA scientists are claiming the unexpected eclipse and strange "hot hail" are nothing to worry about, Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol) knows better, and takes football star Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) and travel agent Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) with him into space to rectify things. They land on planet Mongo, where the despot Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow) is attacking Earth out of pure boredom. With the help of a race of Hawkmen, Flash and the gang struggle to save their home planet. Mike Hodges’ camp extravaganza of 1981 doesn’t take itself too seriously, is a definitive cult classic, and truly a blast.

If immortal Scottish swordsmen are right up your alley, then och, this is the film for you. Director Russell Mulcahy directs HIGHLANDER, a story full of cheesiness, action, and a whole lot of general mayhem and fun.
When the mystical Russell Nash (Christopher Lambert) kills a man in a sword fight in a New York City parking lot, he leaves a sliver of an ancient weapon lodged in a car in the process. After brilliant forensics specialist Brenda Wyatt (Roxanne Hart) recovers evidence of the mysterious weapon, she and her partner, Lt. Frank Moran (Alan North), embark on an investigation of Nash that will land them in the middle of a dangerous, centuries-old feud between powerful immortals. Also starring Sean Connery, another cult classic fondly brought back to Nova screens.
