When delinquent high schooler Dawn Davenport (cult icon Divine) doesn't get the cha-cha heels she wanted for Christmas from her parents, she decides to run away from home. While hitchhiking away from her old life, Dawn meets Earl Peterson (also played by Divine) and gets pregnant. After he declines to support her throughout her pregnancy, Dawn eventually gives birth and is forced to work numerous dead-end jobs to make ends meet. That eventually changes, however, when she eventually meets Donald and Donna Dasher (David Lochary and Mary Vivian Pearce), who persuade her to embark on a life of crime as they photograph her while she commits each act.
