Herself

From Phyllida Lloyd, director of The Iron Lady, comes HERSELF, a tale of an Irish woman’s journey striking out on her own after escaping an abusive partner. Caring for her two daughters and contending with a broken housing system, Sandra (Clare Dunne in a moving performance) is trying to make a better life for her family - in a system that makes it near impossible. Setting out to build her own home instead, what Sandra lacks in resources she makes up for in being brave of heart and flush with friends’ helping hands. An inspiring film warm in spirit and full of hope, HERSELF - a film of one woman taking on a system stacked against her with her bare hands - was Variety’s “stand-out of Sundance 2020”.
