Pinocchio

Director Matteo Garrone (Dogman, Gomorrah) revisits the classic fairy tale of the puppet who wanted to be a real-life boy, drawing more on the original children’s fairy tale from 1883. Embracing the story’s more bizarre and unexpected elements, PINOCCHIO stars Academy Award winner Roberto Benigni as the woodcarver Geppetto and newcomer Federico Ielapi as the wooden boy whose mischief causes him to enter a strange and magic world. A unique and sumptuous retelling of the classic tale, Garrone’s film is an elaborate and effects-filled departure for the filmmaker.
