Taxi Driver

50th ANNIVERSARY! Isolated ex-marine Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro) applies for a job as a taxi driver, hoping that the nocturnal working pattern will alleviate the effects of his insomnia and distract him from his gnawing depression. But ferrying passengers through the seedy underbelly of night-time New York City only compounds Bickle's psychological dislocation from the world around him.

Directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader, TAXI DRIVER co-starrs Jodie Foster, Cybill Shepherd, Albert Brooks and Peter Boyle. It is considered as relevant today as it was when the film was unleashed upon audiences witnessing the outcome of the Vietnam War, political corruption in the highest offices of the US government and a generation of angry, disenfranchised young men looking for meaning.
