Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) is a radio journalist whose program interviews children to learn their perspectives on life. Summoned to Los Angeles by his sister (Gabby Hoffman), Johnny is unexpectedly forced to become caretaker to his energetic young nephew (Woody Norman). Empathetically directed by Mike Mills (Beginners), this fish-out-of-water comedy sensitively explores the similarities between mature adults and adolescent children and just how much we can learn from one another if we bother to listen.
