Irena's Vow

Based on the Broadway play that was inspired by an incredible true story, IRENA'S VOW follows Polish nurse Irena Gut Opdyke, portrayed by Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets), who hid Polish Jews during World War II.

Employed as a housekeeper by Nazi German officer Major Eduard Rügemer (Dougray Scott), 19-year-old Irena (Nélisse) is increasingly disturbed by the treatment of her fellow countrymen during the Nazi occupation. When she learns of a plan by the SS to liquidate the Jewish ghetto and send Jews to distant concentration camps, Irena decides to hide 12 workers somewhere the German officers would least suspect: the home of her high-ranking Nazi employer. Over the next two years, Irena uses her wit, humour, and courage to hide her friends until the end of the German occupation, concealing them in the midst of increasingly dangerous circumstances.

Written by Dan Gordon from his play, and directed by Louise Archambault, IRENA'S VOW is a powerful and enduring account of the human spirit.
