Tears of the Black Tiger

A gang of outlaws roams the countryside of Thailand. Among them is the handsome gunslinger Dum (Chartchai Ngamsan), who became unwillingly involved in bandit life while trying to reclaim his beloved, Rumpoey (Stella Malucchi), the upper-class daughter of a provincial governor who's been married off to a policeman. Dubbed the Black Tiger by his gang, Dum finds himself being pursued by the very policeman who's taken his love, and does everything in his power to reach her.

Packed with exuberant sets, stunning shots, a stirring soundtrack, Wisit Sasanatieng's Thai 'western' TEARS OF THE BLACK TIGER was the first Thai film to be selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival, premiering in 2001.
