35th ANNIVERSARY! Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), Ice Cube (Friday), and Angela Bassett (Strange Days) deliver breakout performances in writer-director John Singleton’s Oscar-nominated drama set within Los Angeles' gang culture, BOYZ N THE HOOD.

Tre (Gooding Jr.) is sent to live with his father (Laurence Fishburne) in South Central Los Angeles. Although his hard-nosed father instills proper values and respect in him, and his devout girlfriend Brandi (Nia Long) teaches him about faith, Tre's friends Doughboy (Cube) and Ricky (Morris Chestnut) draw Tre into the neighborhood's booming drug and gang culture, with increasingly tragic results.

Nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Director for Singleton - the first African American (and youngest) filmmaker to be nominated for the award, BOYZ N THE HOOD was initially dismissed by Hollywood executives before becoming a critically-acclaimed hit upon release.
