WASKA: The Forest Is My Family (Dir: Nina Gualinga – 15m)

As commodification and extractivism in the Amazon Rainforest extends to the plant medicine hayakwaska, the granddaughter of a Yachak (shaman) reveals the essence of what it means to live as part of the forest.
Nina Gualinga of the Kichwa People of Sarayaku, speaks with the memory of her Apayaya (grandfather) about the ongoing cultural appropriation, environmental destruction and marginalization of Indigenous Peoples, questioning our very relationship to earth and the quest for healing.

Found Family (Dir: Ying Chu – 9m)

Christian Mendoza, originally from the Philippines and raised in Australia, is a proud gay man actively engaged in Perth's LGBTQ+ community. While his biological family faces challenges in fully understanding him, Christian has found supportive and affirming 'families' within the Perth community, where he thrives and feels embraced.


Dance for Pride (Dir: Javier Cataño-Gonzalez – 15m)

Colombian dancer Wendy Nedd embarks on a powerful journey where movement becomes both refuge and revelation. In the heart of Melbourne, she joins fellow immigrants from the Latin American and Hispanic Rainbow community to celebrate identity, resilience, and joy. Through dance, Wendy embraces her queer identity, shares her cultural heritage, and finds belonging — culminating in a vibrant performance at Victoria’s Pride Street Festival.
