Megadoc
While Francis Ford Coppola was making 2024’s Megalopolis, two-time Oscar nominee Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas) was shooting MEGADOC, a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Coppola’s long-awaited dream.
After decades of trying to get Megalopolis into production, Coppola was finally able to self-fund his elusive passion project. Spending $120 million of his own money, the troubled production was akin to the epic proportions of the film itself, all documented by filmmaker Mike Figgis. A raw, fly-on-the-wall look at one of the decade’s most notorious shoots, this documentary isn’t a record of a production on the brink, but instead a portrait of Coppola’s creative process. Weaving together archival material, unfiltered cast interviews, and a close-up view of how the legendary filmmaker drew from Roman history, political allegory, and his own singular vision, MEGADOC explores how the world of Megalopolis was shaped.
