Lawyer Rita Moro Castro (Saldaña) has made a career of protecting corrupt politicians and criminals but has little to show for it. Contacted by representatives of a cartel boss, Castro finds herself confronted by the notorious Manitas Del Monte (Gascón) and an unexpected proposition: help Del Monte fake their death, coordinate compensation for widow Jessi (Gomez) and arrange a male to female transition for the outlaw.
