Corsage

Part revisionist history, part unconventional character study, director Marie Kreutzer boldly re-imagines the famed Austrian empress in CORSAGE: a dark, ethereal tale of a woman scorned.

Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Vicky Krieps, "Phantom Thread") is idolised for her beauty and renowned for inspiring fashion trends. But in 1877, as she celebrates her 40th birthday, she must fight to maintain her public image. With a future of purely ceremonial duties ahead of her, Empress Elizabeth’s hunger for knowledge and zest for life make her increasingly restless. Seeking to restore the rebellion of her youth, she stages a rebellion against her public image and threatens the monarchy in the process.
