We’re running a competition for interesting, unique short videos - celebrating movies, cinema, and/or the history of the big screen - to play on screen before a film. It might be something you’ve filmed or recorded yourself, or it might be a clever edit of (or commentary on) other material.
What would you want to see in your pre-film entertainment? A crazy mashup? A new take on a favourite film? Just something that makes you laugh? Or cry? Or ponder? Maybe something that includes....
Funny movie moments
Incongruous music
Movie reinterpretation
Voice-over reinterpretation
Film info or trivia
Comedy or animation
Themed mashups
Vintage ads
...or really, anything you like! We've put together an inspiration playlist to give you a sense of what we're looking for, and remind you what great material movies have given us for you to use as a resource.
LET’S GET INTO THE DETAILS:
- Your video must be original, your own work, created for this competition and mention Cinema Nova.
- Videos must be 5-7 minutes in duration.
- Avoid overly offensive themes or language.
- We’re looking for creativity over technical perfection, but we want your video looking good on the big screen.
- Upload to YouTube or Vimeo and submit via this Google form.
Our ten chosen winners will be awarded cash prizes of $1000 each and have the opportunity to see their videos screen at Nova!
Entries open on Monday November 19 2022, and will close at 11.59pm on Saturday December 31, 2022
