Originally made in Thailand in the late ’90s and under the bizarre title 'My Teacher Eats Biscuits', DOGGOD was banned just one day before its premiere for the apparently rather impressive feat of being deemed 'offensive to all religions'.

And then it disappeared for 25 years.

Now restored from its original 16mm elements, Ing K’s long-buried black comedy follows a foreign investigator into a bizarre Bangkok ashram, where spiritual enlightenment gives way to manipulation, desire, blind devotion and the very human need to worship something — even if that something happens to be a stray dog.

Part cult psychodrama, part surreal satire and part cinematic act of blasphemy, DOGGOD fought censorship all the way to Thailand’s Supreme Court before finally escaping into the wild. Ironically, the film they tried to bury is now recognised as part of Thailand’s National Film Heritage.

Sometimes God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes he just cocks his leg.
